Neijing Classical Acupuncture is a style of acupuncture derived from the Han era of ancient China. This incredibly effective acupuncture system is based distinctively on principled diagnostics and treatment. Each session is perfectly customised to the individual and their ailment. Neijing acupuncture involves the use of many varying techniques, from gentle light touch non-insertion methods to deep connective needling. Its efficacy lies in its versatility and approach to illness. David is one of the only true clinical practitioners of Neijing acupuncture worldwide, where he has delved into the nuances of true, authentic acupuncture technique. From sports injuries, stress, gastric disorders and gynaecological dysfunction to chronic debilitative diseases, Neijing acupuncture offers unique and restorative models of healing. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is an incredibly diverse practice. Having been the primary health modality of east-Asia for well over two millennia there is very little that Acupuncture and Chinese medicine has not dealt with. Rather than list disease and condition after disease here, it is always best to consult your practitioner and we encourage anyone considering acupuncture to call, email, or message us with their query.
What one will find is that the approach used in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine is one of a completely different scientific paradigm than what we have today. The founders and developers of this medicine stemmed from a time where their outlook on their environment, body, and universe was incredibly unique. Yes, they looked at the same body as the rest of us do, however, where we see structure they may have seen pattern and function, where we label one thing, they may have labelled two or more as an interconnected system. Naming of conditions and diseases is also radically different in acupuncture, where practitioners will often discuss obstruction or chaotic disease states, tissue based patterns, channel and vessel disorders, and organ, emotional, and physical correspondences. Often these new terms can be confusing and it is highly recommended to ask David about these issues to greater your understanding of self. With over 24 years of tertiary teaching experience he will be able to give you insight into this ancient practice.

The use of herbal medicine dates back well over 5000 years. However, it wasn’t until the Eastern Han era around 2200 years ago that the art and science of formula medicine was truly designed as systematic approach to disease. It is within the classical discourse known as the Shanghan zabing lun (Treatise on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Disease) that this system was perfectly described. This monumental work become the most influential herbal treatise of the last two millennia, drawing on multiple sources and heavily impacting Chinese medical literature and practice. As David’s clinical focus lies in the acupuncture tradition, he has spent the last twenty years also practicing herbal medicine. His speciality was gastric disorders under Chief Physician Ma Jun, with later work being additionally focused on fertility, pregnancy, pain, and immune support. David continues to hone his herbal skills as well as having a vast referral system through his colleagues at the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine under the tutelage of his close friend Dr. Arnaud Versluys.
